Every member of the Employees Provident Fund i.e. EPF is given a 12-digit number, which is called Universal Account Number (UAN). If you work and every month a certain amount is deducted from your salary and deposited in EPF, then you are also a member of EPF. The work of allotting UAN to EPF members is done by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). If you want to withdraw money from your EPF account (EPF Withdrawal), check the balance of your EPF account or want to transfer your EPF account while changing jobs, now you can do all these tasks anywhere. Without it, you can also do it online. But you can do all these things only when you know your UAN number and it is also active. If you do not know your UAN, there is no need to worry. We tell you how you can find your Universal Account Number. We will also tell you what the process of activating UAN is.
All members of Employees Provident Fund i.e. EPF can find their Universal Account Number in two ways. The first way is to get help from the company where you work. You can find out your UAN by asking your employer. Many companies also give UAN information on the salary slips of their employees. If so, then you can get the Universal Account Number directly by looking at your salary slip. But if UAN is not mentioned on your salary slip or you are facing any problem in getting UAN from your employer, then you can do this directly through the UAN portal. The step-by-step process to obtain a UAN number by visiting the UAN portal is given below:
Step 1: Go to the UAN portal. Its web address is: unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
Step 2: On the home page, you will find 'Know Your UAN' written in the right corner, click on it.
Step 3: On the next page, fill in your mobile number and captcha.
Step 4: After filling in the mobile number and captcha, click on request OTP.
Step 5: You will receive OTP on your registered mobile number.
Step 6: After filling this OTP in the given space, click on 'Validate OTP'.
Step 7: After this, you will get your UAN on your registered mobile number.
After getting your universal account number, you will also have to activate it. We are explaining its method here:
Step 1: Go to EPFO portal (epfindia.gov.in/site_en/).
Step 2: On the home page, under 'Our Services', 'For Employees' will be written, click on it.
Step 3: After this, 'Member UAN/Online Services (OCS/OTCP)' will be visible under the 'Services' section. Click on it.
Step 4: On the next page you will find 'Activate UAN' written, click on it.
Step 5: After this a form will open in which fill your UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID and captcha.
Step 6: After filling in complete details in the form, click on 'Get Authorization Pin'.
Step 7: You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number.
Step 8: Another box will open, in which after filling in the required details, tick the disclaimer box and then after filling the OTP in the given space, click on 'Validate OTP and Activate UAN'.
Step 9: Within a short time, you will receive your UAN and password on your registered mobile number. Using these, you will be able to avail all the online services by logging into the EPFO portal.
