How to merge multiple UANs/EPF Accounts:  UAN i.e. Universal Account Number is a 12 digit unique number given to the employees by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). As a rule, your UAN should remain the same throughout your career. Even if you change jobs, your UAN should remain the same. But sometimes it also happens that while changing jobs, some people get allotted a new universal account number. If this has happened to you too, then you should merge both your UANs. This is because if you have more than one UAN, you may find it difficult to withdraw money from EPF.

Why are more than one UAN created?

Many times, while changing jobs, a new UAN and EPF account is created in the name of the employee by the new employer. This may be due to the employee not providing his old UAN and EPF account number or it may also be due to negligence of the new employer. If this has happened to you, then you can easily merge your multiple UAN numbers and EPF accounts into one.
