The Sunday Times released its 'Rich List 2024' last week. The list is a compilation of the richest personalities in the UK. One of the key highlights of the list was UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy. Their wealth stood at £651 million and was greater than King Charles III's on the wealth index

While UK has witnessed a decline in the overall number of billionaires, the combined wealth of its top 350 richest people has reportedly surpassed Poland's GDP. Despite some departing, new members are entering the ranks, including Sir Paul McCartney, who become Britain's first musician billionaire.

Here are the top 10 richest families and individuals in UK:

1. Gopi Hinduja and family (£37.2bn)

Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja, an Indian-British billionaire entrepreneur, is the proprietor of the Hinduja Group. Originally founded by Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, the group has a presence across diverse sectors such as automotive, oil, specialty chemicals, finance, IT, cybersecurity, healthcare, trading, infrastructure development and real estate.

2. Sir Leonard Blavatnik (£29.25bn)

The Ukrainian-born billionaire and philanthropist, who also holds ownership of Warner Music through Access Industries, has secured the second spot in the wealth index. He is the proprietor of a London-based sports media company known as DAZN.

3. David and Simon Reuben and family (£24.98bn)

David and Simon Reuben were born in Mumbai before shifting to UK. A major part of their wealth reportedly comes from real estate and technology. David traded metals initially, while Simon dealt in carpet imports and real estate. The Reuben family also owns about 14 per cent of Newcastle United F.C. in the Premier League.

4. Sir Jim Ratcliffe (£23.52bn)

The billionaire, a chemical engineer and entrepreneur, serves as both the chairman and CEO of the INEOS chemicals group. INEOS operates in the production of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, and oil products. In 2018, Ratcliffe was given the title of Knight Bachelor (one of the highest honors in UK).

5. Sir James Dyson and family (£20.8bn)

The industrial designer is known for establishing the Dyson company and creating the cyclone vacuum cleaner in the 1970s. He also founded the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.

6. Barnaby and Merlin Swire and family (£17.2bn)

Swire Group is a highly diversified global corporation with businesses across industries such as property, beverages and food chain, aviation, marine and trading. Barnaby Swire is the Chairperson of Swire Group.

7. Idan Ofer (£14.96bn)

Idan Ofer is an Israeli billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist. He has a strong business presence in shipping, energy and mining. He is also the founder of Quantum Pacific Group.

8. Lakshmi Mittal and family (£14.92bn)

Lakshmi Niwas Mittal is an Indian steel tycoon based in the UK. He is the executive chairman of ArcelorMittal which is the world's second-largest steel company. He is also among the top 10 richest people in India.

9. Guy, George, Alannah and Galen Weston and family (£14.49bn)

The Weston family owns various brands such as Fortnum & Mason and Primark. They have a strong presence in countries like UK and Canada. They are majorly focused on food manufacturing and retail segments.

10. John Fredriksen and family (£12.87bn)

Born in Norway, John Fredriksen is the former CEO of Frontline, which is a prominent shipping company. His business empire includes a wide array of vessels including oil tankers, dry bulkers, LNG carriers, and deepwater drilling rigs.
