Business tycoon Anand Mahindra shared a list of countries with largest road networks on X, expressing his amusement over India surpassing China to have second largest road network in the world. He also said that Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari can set a target to overtake US too in some time.
On X, he tweeted, “I was happily surprised to see that we are ahead of China. That must be because the western half of China is sparsely inhabited. More interesting is that we’re within striking distance of the U.S.A. I’m sure @nitin_gadkari ji can set a goal to overtake the U.S not too long from today!"
Last year, in an interview to Outlook Business, Gadkari said, “We are constantly pursuing road construction and have got all the ability and potential to make good quality infrastructure. I am giving you confidence that by the end of FY24, our national highway road network will be equivalent to the road network of the USA.”
