The upcoming G20 Summit is likely to address several global level issues with its theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future”. It is still not clear whether there would be a consensus over the statement as contentious issues such as Russian invasion of Ukraine divides the G20 leaders.

In anticipation of the summit, a groundbreaking assessment by the United Nations has revealed that countries are largely falling short of meeting their emission reduction commitments. This failure puts the planet on a dangerous trajectory towards catastrophic global warming. The report, which was released on Friday, emphasizes that governments must swiftly identify ways to reduce billions of tons of carbon dioxide if they wish to prevent global warming from exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius by the end of the decade.
Bloomberg reported citing sources that diplomats have agreed upon the wording for Russia-Ukraine war in joint communique.
The final wording still needs to be approved by the leaders. However, the report said that it is likely that it will be approved.
According to Bloomberg, the wording is similar to the one agreed at the last summit in Bali, Indonesia.
European Union President Ursula von der Leyen said at the first session of G20 that the European bloc will invest at least 4 billion euros in renewable energy and hydrogen in developing economies.
She also thanked Prime Minister Modi for his leadership and extended best wishes to Brazil President Lula da Silva for country's upcoming presidency of the bloc.
In her statement, she also urged Russia to allow grain from Ukraine to reach global markets. "Food security is victim of Russia's aggression," her statement said.
