ChatGPT’s OpenAI To Offer Users Up To $20,000 For Reporting Bugs And Other Flaws

As a reward or ‘token of appreciation’, OpenAI would be offering cash rewards based on ‘severity and impact’ of reported issues

OpenAI, the firm behind the inception of sensational ChatGPT has announced some major rewards for users. On Tuesday, the parent company announced launch of the ‘OpenAI Bug Bounty’ through which it would offer up to $20,000 to users for reporting bugs and flaws in the artificial intelligence system.

According to the official website of OpenAI, the program has been started to incentivize testing of ChatGPT and other AI systems. Hence, as a reward or ‘token of appreciation’, OpenAI would be offering cash rewards based on ‘severity and impact’ of reported issues. These rewards also range from $200 to $20,000, based on the severity of findings.

“To incentivize testing and as a token of our appreciation, we will be offering cash rewards based on the severity and impact of the reported issues. Our rewards range from $200 for low-severity findings to up to $20,000 for exceptional discoveries. We recognize the importance of your contributions and are committed to acknowledging your efforts,” OpenAI mentions on its official website.

For those not aware about the business dynamics of the case, tech companies often use something like bug bounty programs to encourage users to report flaws in their softwares/systems. Users get rewarded for their findings and in some cases, this also helps the companies in improving their product.

For the OpenAI Bug Bounty program, the company has partnered with Bugcrowd, a leading bug bounty platform, to manage the submission and reward process.
