OpenAI's came up with new features for its AI chatbot ChatGPT. An upgrade to the ChatGPT mobile apps for iOS and Android allows the user to speak to the chatbot. The new features are launched to make the app more user friendly and interactive than ever before.

The new version will also add new image capabilities, through which the user can click or upload a picture to get a response from the app about the image's description offering further context. This new feature is similar to Google's Lens app.

OpenAI has said that the new features will be rolled out to Plus and Enterprise users over a time period of 14 days.

“ChatGPT can now see, hear, and speak. Rolling out over next two weeks, Plus users will be able to have voice conversations with ChatGPT and to include images in conversations. They (voice and image capabilities) offer a new, more intuitive type of interface by allowing you to have a voice conversation or show ChatGPT what you’re talking about," the Microsoft backed company said in a post on the microblogging site X.

The new features will allow ChatGPT to compete with its rival counterparts like Midjourney, Google Bard AI, Inflection AI, Jasper Chat, among others.

New Voice Features

ChatGPT's new voice features lets the user hold a "back and forth" conversation with the chatbot. To use the new feature, one just needs to open "settings" on their app, and enable voice chat under the ‘New Features’ section.

OpenAI also announced on its website, that it will be collaborating with Spotify "for the pilot of their Voice Translation feature." This feature will podcasters expand their reach by "translating podcasts into additional languages in the podcasters’ own voices".
