Accenture layoffs became talk of the town when the company decided to trim its global workforce. Now, as per latest reports, Accenture is also delaying the start date of some fresh recruits.

According to a Bloomberg report, Accenture Plc is delaying these dates as the company is looking to recalibrate its massive workforce for a rather more cost-conscious environment. “In some cases, for example for some recent graduates, we are adjusting start dates based on the needs of our clients and business,” the publication quoted Accenture spokesperson Rachel Frey via email, as saying.

The report adds that Accenture’s delayed hiring move has also been brought up in some anonymous Reddit forums where people have discussed the implications of the move.

One user reportedly wrote, “I have been stringed [sic] along for months.” Another added, “It just sucks because I missed out on a lot of companies and roles in the fall recruiting cycle.”

The delays in the hiring process and in the start date for fresh recruits comes as a fresh blow in the season of mass layoffs when several companies are slashing jobs as a cost cutting measure. Due to a global economic downturn, both tech and non-tech companies have resorted to layoffs and other cost-cutting measures.
