Markets Touch New Highs As Sensex Crosses 75,000, Nifty 50 Touches 22,750 Mark

Market soared to new heights on Tuesday as BSE Sensex breached 75,000 and NSE Nifty touched 22,750 levels

Benchmark indices, yet again, reached a new all-time-high on Tuesday. BSE's Sensex crossed the 75,000 mark, whereas NSE's Nifty 50 touched the 22,750 level. The broader market continues to be in a bullish mood owing to optimistic figures for the domestic economy.

The banking index, Nifty Bank was also trading in the green territory, up by more than 200 points.

Industry heavyweights were key gainers on the benchmarks. Tata Steel, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HCL were the top movers on BSE. On the other hand, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Bank, Reliance and Titan were the top laggards.

At 10:20 am, Sensex was trading at 75,015.86 up by 273 points. Meanwhile, Nifty 50 was trading at 22,736.65, up by 75 points.

On Monday, the market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE hit a new high of Rs 400.86 lakh crore, buoyed by a record rally in equities.

According to provisional data from the NSE, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded shares worth Rs 684.68 crore, whereas domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased stocks worth Rs 3,470.54 crore on April 8.

While domestic markets continue to be in the green territory, global markets reflect a mixed play. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 11.24 points or 0.03 per cent. The S&P 500 lost 1.95 points or 0.04 per cent. However, the Nasdaq Composite was up by 5.44 points or 0.03 per cent.
