Kasstech Aerospace, has been working on the strategy to make flying easy and accessible to a large segment of the population by way of small aircraft, specifically from Diamond Aircraft of Austria.

Set up by entrepreneur Vivek Saxena in 2019, Gurugram based Kasstech Aerospace has been especially successful at adapting to the changing demands of the aerospace sector. Saxena chose to turn an entrepreneur after 30 years in various industrial sectors, out of which over 15 years were based in the aviation industry.  He saw massive growth potential in the aviation industry with the aviation sector in India opening up and wanted to harness it to the utmost.

In addition, it offers a broad array of defence and thermal-imaging solutions collaborating with market leaders like FLIR. In response to the country’s needs during the Covid pandemic, Kasstech diversified into healthcare solutions by providing state-of-the-art medical oxygen plants from Oxywise.

Kasstech Aerospace, a DPIIT registered company, has been actively involved in providing technical solutions to the aerospace industry. It offers unique integrations to solve some of the pressing problems of the industry and also undertakes maintenance and repairs of Indian aircrafts and UAVs.

The company is the sales representative for Diamond Aircraft Industries in Indian market and distributors of Austro Engine GmbH, thermal OEM Cores from Teledyne FLIR systems, Dynamic Propellor balancer systems from DSS, and Oxygen and Nitrogen generator/plants from Oxywise.

Diamond is the leading global manufacturer of single and twin-engine aircraft in general Aviation. Its aircraft are renowned for their superior design, build quality, comfort, safety, and extremely low costs of operation, owing to which they’re the preferred choice of private pilots as well as flying training institutes. Over 5500 Diamond Aircraft have come into operation worldwide and over 50 of them are flying in the Indian sky today. The Diamond aircraft are equipped with Austro Engines. These are the world leading engines in their class with the best power to weight ratio and extremely cost efficient. Diamond Aircraft are designed with these engines in mind and therefore the combination of airframe and engine is perfectly balanced and efficient. The Diamond Aircraft various models are used for various applications, ranging from aerial sports (DA20-2seater), to flying training operations, (DA40NG single engine & DA 42NG- twin engine). Several flying training organisations in India already operate Diamond Aircraft and many more FTOs (flying training organisations) are now setting up operations. “Currently, the majority of commercial pilots are trained abroad due to the paucity of contemporary training aircraft in India, and we are actively working to change this,” Saxena states.

Saxena has been putting his long years in strategic planning, technical and commercial management as well as marketing for establishing clear leadership positions of complex and high technology businesses in dynamic and high-pressure global corporate environment spanning defence, aerospace technologies, aviation, information technology, and power and energy (including solar energy, solar power plants among others to good use.

Even though recent policy changes have opened the window to private sector investment and participation in the Indian defence sector, only a few companies have been able to provide services in terms of research and development, maintenance, engineering support and consultancy to clients in the aerospace sector.

We have a CAR -145 certified MRO at Narnaul, Haryana, through which we provide maintenance services including repair of aircraft and engine overhaul (the facility is dedicated to Diamond aircraft and Austro engines). Kasstech’s team of trained engineer not only repair and maintain airframe and engines, but also provide maintenance support to large UAVs,” says Saxena.

Recently the company has also collaborated with Dynamic solution systems (DSS micro) as the distributors & service providers of dynamic microvib propellor balancer systems and is also the calibration centre for the same for all types of rotors on helicopters.

Kasstech Aerospace has a tie-up with FLIR — a US-based company manufacturing thermal imaging sensors, similar to camera-like devices that can pick up temperature differences by sensing heat emitted by objects. By providing a visual depiction of the temperature differences, these systems can act like our sixth sense. The company’s R&D division has developed India-specific applications as well. The sensors range from large ‘gimbals’ which form part of aircraft avionics systems to small thermal cores which form the heart of various thermal imaging instruments being designed and manufactured in India by different large system integrators.

In India, several major system integrators use the FLIR-provided cameras for their drone systems as well as final products for the defence sector as part of the government’s push to ‘’Make in India” and “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” initiatives. As a simple analogy with desktop computers, the FLIR Thermal cores inside Thermal Imaging systems made in India act similarly as the “INTEL CPU” inside desktop computers made in India. Currently, thousands of FLIR Thermal cores are on order and under delivery, which consequently means that the Indian Thermal Camera Manufacturers are coming of age and not only meeting India’s defense needs locally but also exporting to other countries. Kasstech is also developing industry specific solutions based on this technology.

On the industrial side, infrared sensors provide automation solutions for the power industry with the help of thermal detecting sensors for monitoring substations. The system can pre-empt power grid breakdowns.
