Software firm Zoho has made investments in Yali Aerospace, a drone start-up, said the company’s chief executive officer and cofounder, Sridhar Vembu.

Taking to X, Vembu said that the start-up based in Tanjavur, led by the husband-and-wife team of Dinesh Baluraj and Anugraha, has built a fixed-wing drone with vertical takeoff and landing. This solves the problem of delivering medicines and organs to remote hospitals, up to a range of 150 km, with a payload of up to 7 kg and a maximum speed of 155 km per hour, he added.

As per the company website, Yali Aerospace “delivers drone solutions for medical, surveillance, and logistics to enhance and save lives throughout the world.”

Zoho has been investing extensively in artificial intelligence. Further, recently, Reuters reported that the firm intends to venture into chipmaking with a proposed investment of $700 million. According to a Reuters report, Zoho has found a possible business partner and asked the Central Government for incentives. As a company, for businesses of all sizes, Zoho develops cloud based software suits.

However, the company now wishes to comment on the development. Vembu mentioned that the company is not ready to disclose any announcements as of now. “All I can say right now is that this technology is vital for our nation, and we need companies to step up and make the investment. The government is very supportive, and now is the time,” said Zembu on X (formerly Twitter).

Additionally, Zoho revealed last year that 13 ChatGPT-powered generative AI Zoho application extensions and connectors have been released. Director of AI Research at Zoho Corporation, Ramprakash Ramamoorthy, stated, "The fusion of ChatGPT's generative AI with our homegrown AI features will provide users with a more intuitive, efficient, and secure experience, reflecting Zoho's deep research and development-first culture.”
