Food tech platform Swiggy has brought back Handpicked, a premium grocery delivery service. Handpicked has been relaunched into a new category under Instamart, the quick commerce vertical of Swiggy. 

Handpicked is now available only in Bengaluru. It will soon expand to Mumbai and Delhi. More than 500 distinctive items from both regional and well-known brands, like Iyengar's, Sweet Karam Coffee, The Whole Truth, NOTO, Masterchow, and Blue Tokai, are included in the collection. 

Handpicked offers locally sourced and niche items such as homemade paneer, freshly baked breads, oriental sauces, cookies from regional players, and more. As per the company statement, users can buy “local, regional, and select new-age brands, clean-label products, freshly prepared items, and gourmet offerings." The items will be delivered within ten minutes within the city.

Handpicked was closed by Swiggy in May 2023. The decision to close it was made as part of a restructuring process by Swiggy to cut its losses. Speaking about the decision to close, a Swiggy spokesperson told the Economic Times, “At Swiggy, we're continuously experimenting with new propositions in line with our vision to enable convenience for consumers.” The spokesperson further added, “Handpicked was being piloted in a few zones in Bengaluru, and we have had several positive learnings from it.”

Speaking about the launch, Phani Kishan, CEO of Swiggy Instamart, said, “We work closely with local partners to rigorously evaluate products for quality and consistency, and only then list them as Handpicked on Instamart. These products are the best in their segment in terms of freshness, originality, and authenticity. The icing on the cake is that it will be delivered on-demand for the first time, and that too in just ten minutes." 

Talking to X (formerly Twitter), Kishan added, “With handpicked, we aim to curate the best of the best products that are fresh, local, authentic, and 100% high quality.”
