Physics Wallah's Skilling Vertical Upskills 1 Lakh Youth In One Year

PW Skills offers courses on data science, full stack development, data structure and algorithm to help learners to upskill.

Physics Wallah’s (PW) skilling vertical, PW Skills has upskilled 1 lakh learners in its maiden year 2023, with the majority falling within the age group of 18-25, edtech said in a statement. 

PW Skills offers courses on data science, full stack development, data structure and algorithm to help learners to upskill and transition into better employment opportunities.  

A majority of these students come from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi NCR, the edtech added. The women learners constitute 20-22 per cent of the total enrollment, the Noida-based company said.   

The company is set to introduce cources on cyber security, UI/UX Design, stock market analysis, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), digital marketing, and product management in its strategic expansion to diversify and enrich its educational portfolio for the learners, it said.  

Founded in 2020, PW was started as a YouTube channel in 2014, it became a unicorn in 2022 and now it has more than 27 lakh paid students, and 1 crore app downloads on the PW App as claimed by the company.  

The company is planning to expand its offline presence in FY25. In an interview with The Economic Times, Alakh Pandey said that the company will open "as many offline centres as it can" in FY25. The edtech has seen a sharp drop in its net profit to Rs16 crore in FY23 from Rs 98 crore in the previous year,  

Valued at $1 billion in 2022, the edtech runs 130 offline coaching centres in 105 cities, of which 55 were opened this fiscal, as per the reports.
