Google is going through another round of layoffs as the company aims to cut its costs. While these job cuts will not be taking place across the entire company, the affected employees will have the opportunity to apply for other positions within the firm.

The exact number of employees impacted and the teams involved remain undisclosed for now. As per a report by Reuters, a few of the affected positions will shift to hubs the company is investing in, such as India, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dublin.

“Throughout the second half of 2023 and into 2024, a number of our teams made changes to become more efficient and work better, remove layers and align their resources to their biggest product priorities,” a spokesperson mentioned in the report said.

After a series of job cuts witnessed across sectors like tech, media and e-commerce, the latest news by the tech giant is sparking worries that more job cuts might be on the horizon. It is worth noting that employees are the hardest hit by this trail of layoffs.

Back in January, Google made headlines by letting go 'hundreds' of its employees from different segments like engineering, hardware, and assistant teams. This came after the tech giant announced that it would be focusing more on investing and upgrading its artificial intelligence offerings.

CEO Sundar Pichai had already given employees a heads-up at the start of the year, stating that more job cuts might be on the horizon.
