Flipkart's SVP Prabh Simran Singh and VP Sankalp Mehrotra to Resign: Report

Senior Vice President (SVP) of Flipkart's Customer Growth and Retention, Marketing, and Advertising Prabh Simran Singh is on his notice period and will be departing the company in the upcoming weeks, as per a report by Moneycontrol.

In a similar vein, Flipkart's Vice President (VP) of Monetisation, Sankalp Mehrotra, is also finishing up his notice period and is scheduled to depart the Walmart-owned business in the upcoming weeks.

In the past few months, several top executives have left Flipkart. One of the most well-known departures occurred in January 2024, when Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal left the company's board of directors, citing a conflict of interest with his new business, OppDoor. A B2B portal called OppDoor assists new e-commerce companies in going global. Prior to his resignation, Bansal also sold his remaining Flipkart shares.

As per a report by MoneyControl, in February this year, Sandeep Kohli, SVP and head of data center at Flipkart, was set to leave the company. Amitesh Jha, Head of Marketplace and Categories, and Bharath Ram, SVP of Growth and Retention, were some of the other senior leaders who left the company.

With the senior executives leaving, Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said, “Our approach to enabling wealth creation and career planning for all employees has given several individuals the opportunity to pursue the next phase of their careers, which has led to some exits among senior management.”

Mehrotra has worked for Flipkart for more than eight years. As per the report, the role of heading Flipkart advertisements was handed to him internally. Meanwhile, Sandeep Karwa has been appointed as the new head of Flipkart Ads. Over the course of his tenure at Flipkart, Karwa has played a key role in the development and expansion of the company's numerous business divisions.

Interestingly, these exits are coming at a time when Flipkart is planning to prepare for its IPO in India. Kathryn McLay, president as well as CEO, Walmart's International, said recently, “And we are looking and exploring when will be the right time to IPO that business (Flipkart).”
