Physics Wallah’s AcadFly Announces Scholarship Worth Rs 50 Lakh For Indian Students Looking To Study Abroad

Physics Wallah (PW), an edtech company, has launched the first edition of The Global Icons Scholarship worth Rs 50 lakh under its newly launched study abroad initiative, AcadFly.

The Global Icons Scholarship is open to students looking to pursue their masters degrees at over 1,000 leading international universities in the US, UK, and Canada. Students can apply starting on March 26 on the AcadFly website.

AcadFly, previously known as PW Unigo, aims to become a one-stop solution for students aspiring to pursue overseas education, as per a company statement. AcadFly will assist students in making informed decisions in their educational journey and help them with university shortlisting, admission counseling, student loans, and visas, while also providing pre-departure support with accommodation and forex, among others.

Mayank Sharma, Senior Vice President at Physics Wallah, said, “The high cost of attendance is often the single biggest hurdle that deters students from embarking on their study abroad journey. The Global Icons Scholarship is an effort to help reduce the financial burden. By facilitating access to global education, AcadFly is laying the foundations for a brighter future for aspiring Indian students.”

Additionally, in January, Physics Wallah (PW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ETS India, a subsidiary of US-based ETS, the world’s largest private educational assessment, research, and measurement organization, to provide holistic guidance and support to students aspiring to study at leading international universities and help them prepare for the GRE and TOEFL exams.

The partnership aimed to provide students with complimentary individual counseling sessions. It was also intended to provide learning assistance, such as practice tests and informational webinars featuring international universities, to the students.

As per University Living’s survey Beyond Beds and Boundaries: Indian Student Mobility Report 2023, from 1 million in 2019, the number of Indian students living abroad will be two million by 2025. Further, direct spending on overseas education is expected to increase from $47 billion in 2022 to $70 billion in 2025.
