Minus Zero Partners with Ashok Leyland for Autonomous Trucking Solutions

Minus Zero which provides autonomous driving technology solutions, has announced a strategic alliance with Ashok Leyland.

This long-term partnership aims to transform commercial trucking through the deployment of autonomous solutions at a scale, the company said in a statement.

This collaboration will initially focus on creating customised autonomous trucking solutions for ports, factories, and corporate campuses. Future plans include expanding into hub-to-hub and long-haul trucking, pending regulatory changes, it added.

After the collaboration, autonomous driving platform of Minus Zero will be integrated Ashok Leyland’s fleet of commercial vehicles.

Last year, Minus Zero demonstrated the capabilities of its autonomous driving platform in a closed environment through a purpose-built vehicle, zPod.

With global regulations and infrastructure evolving to support autonomous driving, this collaboration can extend to offer joint product offerings to international markets.

Gagandeep Reehal, CEO and co-founder, Minus Zero said, "With our Nature-inspired AI, we are bringing a paradigm shift by building Foundational AI models for autonomous driving. This partnership marks the beginning of India's Autonomous Driving story.”

N Saravanan, chief technology officer, Ashok Leyland said,“Minus Zero’s capabilities and plans impressed us, and we are excited to be working with them to develop India-specific solutions, that can be scaled globally. We see spin-off benefits in developing cost-effective active safety solutions to reduce the road accidents.”

Founded in 2021 by Gagandeep Reehal and Gursimran Kalra, Minus Zero is India's first start-up building Foundational AI Models for autonomous driving delivered as an industry-first intelligent platform to automotive OEMs to enable autopilot and self-driving capabilities for next-gen vehicles across all geographies.

The company is backed by leading investors like Chiratae Ventures and more, as claimed by the company.
